Root Canal Treatment

Pain inside a tooth signals infection or inflammation that will not resolve on its own. Tri-City Endodontics performs root canal therapy to remove diseased pulp, disinfect the canal system, and seal the tooth, allowing it to remain in function rather than being extracted

Root canal therapy treats infection or inflammation inside the pulp chamber and root canals of a tooth, typically caused by deep decay, a crack, repeated dental work, or trauma. Left untreated, the infection can spread into surrounding bone and tissue, often leading to tooth loss. The procedure removes the diseased pulp, disinfects the internal canal system, and seals the space to prevent reinfection, allowing the natural tooth to remain in function.

At Tri-City Endodontics, treatment begins with a focused examination and high-resolution imaging to map the canal anatomy and confirm the source of the problem. Local anesthesia is administered before the procedure begins, and the tooth is isolated to keep the working area clean throughout. Most cases are completed in one or two visits, depending on the complexity of the canal system and whether active infection is present. After the canals are sealed, the patient returns to the referring general dentist for a permanent restoration, usually a crown, which protects the treated tooth and restores full chewing function.

Dr. Malhan and the Tri-City Endodontics team have practiced in Pasco for more than 25 years and regularly receive referrals from general dentists across the Tri-Cities region for complex cases, including teeth with curved or calcified canals, prior failed root canal treatment, and trauma. Patients are informed at each stage of the visit about findings, treatment options, and aftercare, so they understand the condition of the tooth and what to expect during healing
